AP scores are available in July. You’ll be able to access them online with your College Board account username and password.
In AP Lit, you are expected to read more. You read more novels and plays. Additionally, you have to read, understand, and analyze poetry. The complexity level of what you are reading is also usually higher in AP Lit than AP Lang, and you are asked to go more in-depth in terms of analysis.
But just 12 students worldwide managed an extremely rare feat: They aced the AP exam known as Calculus AB, getting every answer correct on a test lasting 3 hours and 15 minutes, with 45 multiple-choice questions and six in a free-response format.
AP tests are scored on a scale of 0-5, with 5 being the highest score you could get. Most schools will give credit for scores of 4 or 5, and some even accept the occasional 3. … This is also when results get sent out by the College Board to schools you’ve indicated you wanted scores sent to, along with your high school.

What score do you need for each AP Subject? Colleges are generally looking for a 4 (“well-qualified”) or 5 (“extremely qualified”) on the AP exam, but some may grant credit for a 3 (“qualified”). These scores mean you have proven yourself capable of doing the work in an introductory-level college course.
A score of 107 is good enough to get you a “5” for the test. Chapters . l-7 zvill help you raise your score. You can leave blank or answer incorrectly some combination of 20 questions on a 55-question multiple-choice section, get a 7 for each of your three essays, and still earn a score of 5.

Tests with a similar curve include the AP language tests and AP Calculus BC, which are also considered to be tests with hard content. There is also another related reason for this curve. These classes self-select, meaning that most students who take it are already highly-qualified for the course.
Thankfully, not many students leave the exam with a 1 unless complications arise during the test and they need to leave, or they are just trying to take the exam without knowing any of the material. In fact, on the AP® rubric, a 1 is described as “no recommendation”.
AP Physics 1 is the hardest AP class with the least passing rate of 51.6. It means almost half of the students fail this exam.
Going up the selectivity chain, the average at Harvard is eight AP classes. To be competitive at some of the most highly selective colleges in the country, 8-12 AP courses may be the sweet spot amount, assuming the student can handle that level of rigor.
A 3 isn’t a bad score and reporting it won’t hurt your chances of getting into a good school.
A score of 3 or higher is generally considered good, because that means you passed the exam! A 4 is considered very good, and a 5 is especially impressive since it is the highest score. Also keep in mind that every college sets its own policy about AP credit. Some schools only give credit for scores of 4 or 5.
Will Colleges Look at AP Scores for Admissions? Typically, AP scores don’t go on your college application. Because they don’t count towards your GPA or become a part of your transcript, there isn’t actually any place on the application where they are required.
Do Bad AP Scores Affect Admission? While most colleges will only accept a score of 4 or 5 for credit, a lower score will not hurt your chances for admittance. The fact that you are taking an AP class in the first place is an indication to schools that you are seeking a more rigorous curriculum. That’s a good thing.
