Some US schools are already back in session as of mid-August, but even in a typical year a majority of colleges, high schools, middle schools and elementary schools won’t return until after Labor Day, which is Monday, September 7 this year.
In America, school starts around August to September, sometimes October. It all depends on the school. My school started two weeks ago and many schools start around this time. The school district typically decides it, but they usually start earlier to end earlier.
Winter break is usually a week in February or March including President’s Day. Spring break falls a week in March or April which includes Easter holidays. Summer break is from 10–11 weeks (May to August/June to Mid-August). Summer break depends on the region and state.
Well, the answer might surprise you. The school year actually dates back to when the farming schedule took precedence over everything else—yes, even school. Farming can only be done in the spring, summer, and fall. … For example, schools in areas with large fall harvests would have time off in September and October.

The earliest schools start letting out in mid-May and the latest schools go back into session the Tuesday after Labor Day (which is always the first Monday in September). Nearly all the schools are out by the second week in June and most of them are back in session by the third week in August.

The school year in Australia goes from late January until mid-December. It is divided into two half-year periods (semesters) with two terms each, the so-called High School Terms. Each term is approximately 10 weeks in duration.
At most schools, summer vacation covers the 40-odd days from July 20 to August 31; winter and spring vacation both last around 10 days, from December 26 to around January 6 and March 25 to around April 5, respectively. The new school year starts in April, at the end of spring vacation.

Is It Too Late to Go Back to School at the Age of 25? Anytime may be the right time to head back to college. There’s no such thing as too old for knowledge and learning. In fact, you may find that college is a much better fit for you now than it was when you were 19.
