With access to billions of computers, computer hackers and malicious users can hack accounts and steal personal information that could be used for identity theft. The Internet also connects all computers, so hackers can scan millions of computers and quickly identify what computers are vulnerable to attack.
1) Hacking is the most common disadvantage of the internet. 2) Personal information in social media is very much vulnerable to hackers. 3) Virus threats on the internet can damage your data and information. 4) Too much addiction to internet leads to time wastage, affecting our productivity and health.
What is one disadvantage of accessing the Internet through a public search engine such as Google or Yahoo? You won’t be able to access documents that have not been published online.
As mentioned earlier, the Internet contains an endless supply of knowledge and information that allows you to learn about almost any topic or question you may have. Using a search engine like Google, you can ask virtually any question and find a web page with an answer to and information about that question.

A search engine, like Google, uses computer algorithms to search the Internet and find websites that match the keywords you enter. Library databases search for published and academic resources, including articles in journals, newspapers, and magazines.
Disadvantage: System Crash
One of the biggest problems with any computerized system is the potential for a system crash. A corrupt hard drive, power outages and other technical issues can result in the loss of needed data. At the least, businesses are interrupted when they are unable to access data they need.
1) Firewalls can be difficult to configure correctly. 2) Incorrectly configured firewalls may block users from performing certain actions on the Internet, until the firewall configured correctly. 3) Makes the system slower than before. 4) Need to keep updating the new software in order to keep security up to date.
Most often, intranets can only be used for internal purposes. In other words, employees can not share content to external parties or Social Media. This is a big intranet disadvantage because the companies that encourage external content sharing have much higher content marketing ROI.

Library Databases Contain library catalogs, peer-reviewed scholarly journals, magazine and newspaper articles, online books, reference books and images. The Internet Contains personal and company web pages, e-mail, chat rooms, ads, current news and information, and some magazine or newspaper articles.
Why a Database Might Be a Better Choice than Google Scholar
Provide the ability to focus search by subject area. Does not have the ability to focus search by subject area. Allow users to sort results according to date and relevance. Does not have an easy way to sort articles in your results list.
Lack comprehensive information.
Google Scholar is designed to search wide, not deep. When you’re trying to learn about a specific market, you need in-depth information, not disparate bits and pieces that leave holes in your research, making you look uninformed.
