What Are Flex Periods? A Flex Time Period is a set time in the daily schedule (usually around 20 to 45 minutes) where students go somewhere different each day (as opposed to always going to math for their first period, for instance). In its most basic form, a Flex Period is a superior version of the study hall.
A flex day is an entire school day dedicated to flexible learning time for students. This enables them to work independently, get extra help where they need it, and pursue enrichment projects. Many schools have a ‘flex block’, ‘activity period’ or something called ‘W.I.N.
Modular Scheduling or Flexible modular scheduling or Flex Scheduling is a form of academic year scheduling in which a school day is broken into many 10-‐20 minute modules or “mods.” The modular scheduling technique resembles some common college scheduling schemes.
Flex is a block of time offered four days a week for 65 minutes (the same length as all other blocks of time). It allows students to broaden, strengthen and accelerate their academic portfolios through access to a variety of courses.
