Like in Ocarina of Time, The Mask of Truth gives Link the ability to read Gossip Stones scattered throughout Termina. In addition to this, the Mask of Truth can also be used to read the minds of animals Link picks up while wearing the mask.
In Ocarina of Time, the Mask of Truth can be borrowed from the Happy Mask Shop after completing the Mask Trading Sequence. Wearing the mask allows Link to speak to Gossip Stones to learn new things about Hyrule and its inhabitants. The Happy Mask Shop Owner mentions that the mask was passed down by the Sheikah.
Link can borrow the mask from the Happy Mask Shop after he has borrowed and sold the first four masks. Link can use the mask as a great lady’s disguise with its charming eyes. “You borrowed a Gerudo Mask. Wear it with (C) to show it off!
The Deku Mask is one of four Masks used for Transformation, the other three being the Goron Mask, the Zora Mask, and the Fierce Deity’s Mask. When worn, it transforms Link into a Deku Scrub. The Mask contains the spirit of the Deku Butler’s Son that Link inhabits when donning the Mask, granting him new abilities.
Early in development, an adult Link Mask was meant to appear in the game, but was later replaced by the Fierce Deity’s Mask. This may be due to the fact that Link can now use items that only Adult Link could in Ocarina of Time, rendering the mask useless.

After defeating Majora and saving at the end of the game, the Fierce Deity’s Mask becomes a permanent addition to the inventory, and all previously traded masks are once again at Link’s disposal.
