This item can drop as a Trials of Osiris reward. This item can drop from Nightfall activities. Xûr, Agent of the Nine, sometimes sells this item in the Tower. Within Destiny 2, The Last Word was given by Shin Malphur to an unnamed Guardian in their attempt to slay a Hive Weapons Master during an exotic quest.

You can still get The Last Word, however. You just need to buy it in the game, instead. You’ll need to take a trip to the Monument to Lost Lights in the Tower.
You can only obtain them from the Season Pass, or by completing a weekly mission for Xur. You can also only hold one at a time, putting a lot of pressure on you to get the other resources you need if there are lots of guns you want to get over the course of the season. You can also get them from some Triumphs.
Decades later, Shin dedicated himself to ending all vestiges of Dredgen Yor’s influence by hunting the Shadows of Yor. Malphur would later come into contact with The Guardian, giving them access to The Last Word to aid in their quest to destroy the Hive who created the Weapons of Sorrow.
Unfortunately you need the annual pass but on Xbox it’s 16 bucks right now! You need the Annual pass, which requires Forsaken. If you have both, the Drifter will have a Questline called “The Draw” available.
Play the mode until you complete the quest. As long as you’re killing quickly and finishing rounds to get those boss kills, it shouldn’t take you more than 20 minutes.
So, once November 10 rolls around, you won’t be able to do the quests for The Last Word, Jotunn, Thorn, Truth, and more. You can, however, get them by random chance. If you want to see the notes in full, then you can check out Bungie’s weekly update.

A Season Pass can be purchased from the “Seasons” tab of the Director map. You can purchase all Seasons (approx. one year of content) in our Destiny 2: Beyond Light Digital Deluxe Edition.
Yes, that’s right, you’ll be able to get Cayde-6’s iconic gun back in good hands after it’s snatched by his murderer, Prince Uldren, in the new Forsaken expansion. … You then need to take the hand cannon to Banshee-44 in the Tower for repairs but he requires some parts to fix it.
Cayde-6 is the big focus of the Destiny 2 Forsaken expansion, mainly because he gets killed in the opening few moments of the new DLC chapter.

The Last Word was obviously a good gun, above average when compared to most hand cannons. But provided that it is specifically a PvP EXOTIC weapon and literally useless anywhere else, it should be good at the job.
The Last Word is a level 20 Exotic Hand Cannon. The Last Word can be purchased from Xur for 23 Strange Coins. It can also be obtained through high level PvE and PvP activities such as Heroic and Nightfall Strikes, Legendary Engrams and Crucible.
16 Exotic quests are leaving the game, including Izanagi’s Burden, Bad Juju, Ace of Spades, The Last Word, and Lumina. … 11 Exotic catalysts are also leaving the game, including the ones for Izanagi’s Burden, Bad Juju, Whisper of the Worm, Outbreak Perfected, and Legend of Acrius.
Jotunn/Toaster will be disabled for Garden of Salvation. The team has identified the issue with Jotunn and we will release a fix in a future update.
(As a quick note: to trigger the heroic version of the Hive Ritual, stand on the two plates and kill the Wizards that spawn once their shields drop. Stay on the plates and the shields around the crystals will drop, so kill them too.)
You can still get this nightmare if you want it. Like many weapons in Destiny 2, the Exotic Hand Cannon Thorn is a returning gun from the original Destiny. This weapon used to rule the first game’s Crucible mode, and though it doesn’t hit quite as hard in the sequel, it’s still something worth having in your arsenal.
The Trinity Ghoul Catalyst in Destiny 2 can be unlocked by playing Strikes in the Vanguard activity Playlist located in the Destinations tab. Similar to most Catalysts in Destiny 2, the reward will be dropped at random by completing the activity or through an Exotic Engram found in the Vanguard Strikes.
